Most moms and dads who bring their kiddo to see me have already been told some version of “they’ll grow out of it.” Maybe it’s the sleep. Maybe it’s the meltdowns, the reflux, the constant ear infections, the trouble focusing at school. And maybe they will grow out of it. But if something in the nervous system is driving it, waiting rarely fixes what is actually going on.
I’m Dr. Anthony Putrus, DC, a neurologically focused chiropractor and co-founder of The Healing Place in Franklin, Tennessee, alongside my wife Dr. Amy Putrus-Schnell. I work with kids, expecting moms, and whole families across Franklin, Brentwood, Spring Hill, and Nolensville.
Why I do this work
I was that kid. Asthma, allergies, behavioral struggles — treated one symptom at a time, none of it really improving. What finally changed things wasn’t another prescription. It was chiropractic care, after a severe back injury, and the difference was immediate enough that it redirected my entire life.
I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology in 2008 and then played professional soccer, including a season in Asia that gave me a genuinely global view of how bodies perform and recover. Working alongside professional basketball and soccer players taught me something I still use every day: the difference between an athlete who plateaus and one who keeps improving is usually neurological, not muscular.
I returned to the academic world and graduated with honors from Life Chiropractic College West in 2014, where I met Dr. Amy. Then my brother was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Walking with him through that is the reason I practice preventive, whole-body care rather than waiting for crisis. It is also why I will never rush a family through a fifteen-minute visit.
How I practice
Chiropractic care in my hands is not about chasing pain. It is about finding where the brain and body have stopped communicating clearly, and removing that interference so the nervous system can regulate itself again.
That starts with measurement, not assumption. Using INSIGHT scanning technology, we measure how a nervous system is actually functioning — where it sits on the stress-and-recovery spectrum — and we track it over time. It means we are working from your child’s data, not a general template.
From there, the adjustments themselves are gentle and specific. With kiddos especially, we are talking about light, precise contacts — nothing like the forceful movements people picture when they hear “chiropractor.”
Who I work with
Pediatric chiropractic — From newborns through the teenage years. Families often come to us about sleep, digestion, focus, sensory processing, and ADHD-related concerns. As a PX Docs pediatric and family certified chiropractor, gentle care for small nervous systems is the centre of my practice.
Prenatal chiropractic — I am Webster Technique certified through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association. Webster is a specific analysis and adjustment for pelvic balance in pregnancy, and many mothers report greater comfort through the third trimester.
Family chiropractic — Parents, grandparents, athletes. Whole families under one roof, which is genuinely how this works best.
Neurologically focused care — For anyone whose symptoms suggest the nervous system is stuck in survival mode and has not been able to come back down on its own.
What to expect
We start by measuring, not guessing. Your first visit includes a full history, an examination, and INSIGHT scanning, so we can look at real data together before anyone talks about a care plan. If I do not think chiropractic care is the right answer for what you are dealing with, I will say so.
Families come to us from Franklin, Cool Springs, Thompsons Station, and across Williamson County — often after being told there was nothing to do but wait. Frequently there is something to do.
